HHV 6/7-PCR QUALITATIVE

Human herpesvirus 6 infection is an infectious disease from the herpesvirus group caused by human herpesvirus type 6 (HHV-6). In acute form, it most often occurs in children as sudden exanthema (roseola infantum, exanthema subitum, 6th childhood rash disease), less often with the development of lesions of connective tissue and the blood system. In chronic course, lesions of the liver, lymph nodes, lungs, nervous system, the development of malignant neoplasms of the lymphatic system and immunodeficiency are possible.

Infection caused by human herpesvirus type 7 - lesions caused by human herpesvirus type 7 (HHV-7). It is part of the herpesvirus infection group. Like most herpesvirus infections, it is an anthroponotic disease.

HHV-7, together with HHV-6, is considered the cause of sudden exanthema in children, pink lichen. In general, there is an assumption that HHV-7 almost always infects people together with HHV-6, after which they act together.

Method principle

During the polymerase chain reaction, sequential amplification of the DNA of the HHV 6, HHV 7 genome (target analytes) and the human-specific genetic sequence (internal control) occurs, which leads to the release of specific fluorophores (FAM), (ROX) and (HEX), respectively. Their fluorescence is recorded using a photofluorometer of the automatic analyzer (amplifier).
