HBV-PCR is a qualitative kit for the qualitative determination of the DNA of the HBV genome in the test sample. Qualitative PCR kits are used to determine whether an infectious agent is present in a sample.
Hepatitis B is an infection of the liver caused by the hepatitis B virus. The infection can be acute (short-term and severe) or chronic (long-term).
Hepatitis B can cause chronic infection and put people at high risk of death from cirrhosis and liver cancer.
It can be spread through contact with infected body fluids such as blood, saliva, vaginal fluids and semen. It can also be passed from mother to child.

During the polymerase chain reaction, the DNA of the HBV genome (target analyte) and the human-specific genetic sequence (internal control) are sequentially amplified, resulting in the release of specific fluorophores (FAM) and (HEX), respectively. Their fluorescence is recorded using a photofluorimeter of an automatic analyzer (amplifier).
