HB/DV-PCR qualitative kit for the qualitative detection of HBV and HDV genome DNA in a test sample. Qualitative PCR kits are used to determine whether a sample contains the infectious agent.
Hepatitis B is a liver infection caused by the hepatitis B virus. The infection can be acute (short-term and severe) or chronic (long-term).
Hepatitis B can cause chronic infection and put people at high risk of dying from cirrhosis and liver cancer.
It can be spread through contact with infected body fluids such as blood, saliva, vaginal fluids, and semen. It can also be transmitted from mother to child.
Hepatitis D is an inflammation of the liver caused by the hepatitis D virus (HDV), which requires HBV to replicate. Hepatitis D infection cannot occur in the absence of hepatitis B virus. HDV-HBV coinfection is considered the most severe form of chronic viral hepatitis due to more rapid progression of hepatocellular carcinoma and death associated with liver dysfunction.

During the polymerase chain reaction, sequential amplification of the DNA genomes of HBV, HDV (target analytes) and a human-specific genetic sequence (internal control) occurs, which leads to the release of specific fluorophores (FAM), (ROX) and (HEX), respectively. Their fluorescence is recorded using a photofluorometer of the automatic analyzer (amplifier).
All components of the kit can be stored for 1 year from the date of manufacture without loss of effectiveness. All kit components are stored at -25°C to -16°C after shipping. Avoid multiple thawing and freezing (> 2 times) of the master mix and positive control as this may affect the performance of the assay.
The Ingeneko® HB/DV-PCR qualitative kit consists of the following components, designed to perform 100 reactions:
