Gardnerella vaginalis-PCR qualitative kit for the qualitative detection of Gardnerella vaginalis genome DNA in a test sample. Qualitative PCR kits are used to determine whether a sample contains the infectious agent.
Gardnerella vaginalis is the main anaerobic bacterium that causes bacterial vaginosis in women. Although G. vaginalis is a natural component of normal vaginal flora, overgrowth of this bacterium can lead to bacterial vaginosis, a major cause of abnormal vaginal discharge or vaginitis. Gardnerella infection is particularly problematic because of its far-reaching implications for women's reproductive health, susceptibility to sexually transmitted diseases, and potential for complications during pregnancy.

During the polymerase chain reaction, sequential amplification of the DNA of the Gardnerella vaginalis genome (target analyte) and the human-specific genetic sequence (internal control) occurs, which leads to the release of specific fluorophores (FAM) and (HEX), respectively. Their fluorescence is recorded using a photofluorometer of the automatic analyzer (amplifier).
